BIO

Ida Højgaard began her career 10 years ago and has carved a niche for herself through her dedication to working with socially engaging art and art in public spaces.

Ida's interdisciplinary approach to art has led her to collaborate with a diverse range of partners - from public bodies, private collectors, and companies to artists, researchers, and art institutions.

In 2020, she moved to Oslo to work on the art strategy for the new government quarter in Oslo, working with a curatorial team at KORO - Public Art Norway. Working on the most extensive public art commissions in Norway’s history has given Ida a unique experience and overview of the contemporary art commissioning market, culminating in her decision to start her own advisory, Højgaard Art Consultancy, in 2022.

Ida is one half of the curatorial duo Koffi & Højgaard, where she and her partner Pauline Koffi Vandet uses the exhibition to create infrastructures for creative and critical dialogue that can challenge conventional notions.

Her academic journey includes a master’s degree in Art History from Copenhagen University, with a keen focus on the visual arts from 1750 to today. Her research has explored the interrelation between art, globalisation, migration, culture, and the political and theoretical issues related to these topics.

Ida’s first specialisation was in classical archaeology and Islamic art and art history, gained during her years at the David Collection (2014-2018) in Copenhagen. Today her experience in field surveys, acquiring and handling artefacts from big auction houses and conducting background research are invaluable tools as an independent advisor and curator.
